Brrr, it's December!

Firecrackers!

It’s December! The holidays are here, so I’m hoping you’re all in the holiday spirit. If not, that’s also ok; this season isn’t for everyone.

Personally, I’m super excited for Christmas because I’ll finally be able to see my family after two years- I know this is the case for many, so that’s definitely one major thing to be grateful for this holiday season. A majority of the family I miss is coming in from Florida, so it’s been a very long two years of virtual weekly hangouts. I’m really looking forward to doing winter activities together and whipping out board games- sleepovers too! A bit of normalcy that I’ve missed the most.

One thing I’m not excited for is shovelling. I know it has to be done every year, but every year I complain about having to do it. I do like snow though! There’s a difference between playing around in the snow for fun and having to shovel out a pathway so you can leave your property. We win some and we lose some, that’s life.

I’ve already started baking and making hot chocolate! Gosh, I love making homemade hot chocolate. I find that way is best because you get to control what’s in it. For me, I use a standard cocoa powder then add in chocolate pieces. It’s so much fun to make PLUS it’s super easy and fast. Next up? How to make a boozy hot chocolate. I think you add red wine- don’t quote me on it though!

2022 is also fast approaching us. This year has gone by insanely fast, but I feel like I say that every year. I’m sure you all feel the same. Do you have any New Year resolutions? I don’t. Other than working to make myself the best version of me I can be, there’s nothing else I feel I need to do. Maybe try to be more positive and optimistic, but that kinda goes with being the best me...I think. I’m not really into New Year resolutions, I think they’re pointless. Why only try in January? Why not try all year round! I can get how it may be a great motivation starter, but you don’t need to wait until January of a new year to better yourself or try something new.

Over in Firecracker Department world, 2022 is full of a lot of fun! More events, more podcasts, another writing challenge AND a department merger. YES! The Script Department + Writing Department are merging into one entity. You’ll still get script readings, writing burst sessions and related events, the only difference is that it’ll be run as one department by Liesl Lafferty, myself, and any other support that comes our way. It’s been so great working with Liesl, she’s an absolute star! Being able to share the responsibilities of the department with someone who’s heart is completely in it is so much fun, and trust me...we’ve got some fun coming your way soon!

It’s an exciting time, and I’m happy you’ll be joining us along the way. As this blog comes to an end, here’s my end of blog call to action:

  • Watch holiday movies! Yes, even the cheesiest one.

  • Eat whatever you want during the holidays, you’re amazing and deserve it.

  • Spread that holiday cheer and be merry!

All the best this holiday season,

Fran 💥
